Toxicokinetics Review Articles

Toxicokinetics refers to the study of absorption, distribution, metabolism/biotransformation, and excretion (ADME) of toxicants/xenobiotics in relation to time.It is an application of pharmacokinetics to determine the relationship between the systemic exposure of a compound and its toxicity. An important parameter in toxicokinetics is the time course of blood or plasma concentration of the toxicant with time.Toxicokinetics describes the use of bioanalytical sampling to distinguish
the disposition of a target compound during time-course toxicity studies in animals. The study of the kinetics (movement) of chemicals was originally conducted with pharmaceuticals and thus the term pharmacokinetics became commonly used.
