Supercritical Fluids In Analytical Chemistry Open Access Articles

Supercritical fluids have a gas's low viscosity and a liquid's high density which makes it impossible to liquefy the matter with any amount of pressure. Furthermore, it is possible to go from a gas to a liquid by using a supercritical fluid to cross the boundary between the vapor and the liquid form, simply by reducing the liquid temperature. When pressure or temperature is adversely affected, the densities and viscosity of a supercritical fluid can change, and the supercritical fluid of a material can have somewhat different properties than the normal fluids. For example, supercritical water differs from regular water, because it is non-polar and acidic.
