Steroid Hormone Metabolism

A steroid hormone is a steroid that goes about as a hormone. Steroid hormones can be gathered into two classes: corticosteroids (normally made in the adrenal cortex, henceforth cortico-) and sex steroids (regularly made in the gonads or placenta). Inside those two classes are five sorts as per the receptors to which they tie: glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids (the two corticosteroids) and androgens, estrogens, and progestogens (sex steroids).
