Digital methods have previously been described as a term that seeks to capture a recent development in Internet-related research, summarized as approaches to the web as data set. Interactive media generally refers to products and services on digital computer based systems which acknowledge to the user's actions by demonstrating content such as text, moving image, audio, animation, video, and video games. The conversion over the past twenty or so years from “old media” to “new media” marks a compelling change in how we use technology to advertise, as devices and the messages carried on them move from “mass” to “micro” and our connection with new media becomes much more personal. Using this as a starting point, this journal publishes digital media approaches as a methodological way that incorporates internet-based data, while also containing other communicative and social media platforms such as Instagram, giffy, Twitter, Periscope, and Face book amongst others. Digital media methods also extend to database research, data generated by sensors, drones and autonomous automobiles.
