Neuroendocrine

Neuroendocrine cells are a singular sort of neuron that release hormones, often peptides, into the blood. Because these hormones typically govern significant phenomena, like metabolism, reproduction, or survival, their secretion must be timed. By comparing and contrasting different organisms and tissues, this chapter attempts to demonstrate that electrical synapses are a standard means of ensuring proper neuroendocrine connectivity and performance.

Many of those cells also express PSA and PAP. Results of testing for lysozyme are negative. NCEGs account for less than a little percentage of cells with neuroendocrine differentiation in benign prostatic acini and adenocarcinoma. Most neuroendocrine cells have small granules that aren't apparent on routinely stained sections. Embryologic Origin of Prostatic Neuroendocrine Cells Anthony Pearse later assigned the functional moniker amine precursor uptake and decarboxylation (APUD) to the system, which is now mentioned more simply because the neuroendocrine system.8 Nests of NE cells are relatively abundant within the respiratory and gastrointestinal epithelium as well as C-cells of the thyroid and Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Their presence within the prostate, however, wasn't recognized until 1944.
