DNA methylation is one of the most punctual epigenetic adjustments found in humans. It is a kind of post-replication alteration that frequently happens in cytosines of the CpG dinucleotide arrangement with the assistance of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs),which move a methyl bunch from S-adenyl methionine to the fifth carbon of a cytosine buildup to frame 5-methylcytosine (5mC).
