Mentha piperita is the scientific name of the plant peppermint. It is said to be a hybrid cross section of two plants water mint and spearmint. Although it is mostly grown in European and Middle East countries now it is widely spread and cultivated in many other regions of the world. It belongs to Kingdom plantae and genus mentha. Suitable conditions for better growth of this plant are moist and shady locations and expands by underground rhizomes. They may grow fast and cover the ground with runners of the plant if the soil is permanently moist. In houses these are grown in containers to restrict the rapid spreading of the plant and it grows best with good supply of water and placed in partly sunlight.
