An intelligent robot functions as an intelligent machine as it can be programmed to take actions or make choices based on input from the sensors.Traditionally, robots are used in manufacturing by moving blindly but precisely in totally controlled workcells. Robotic perception is mainly related to the applications in robotics where the sensory data and artificial intelligence-machine learning (AI/ML) techniques were involved. Some examples of such type of applications are like object detection, environment representation, human/pedestrian detection, understanding of scene, activity recognition, semantic place classification, modeling of the object etc. The recent developments in machine learning are mainly approaches related to deep learning, are evident and, consequently, robotic perception systems are evolving in such a way that new applications and tasks are becoming a reality.
