Genetics includes the study of the structure and function of genes; causal factors, physiological consequences of genetic variation, and various other aspects of heredity. Genetic studies involve an in-depth analysis of the various characteristics of DNA and chromosomes, reproduction and inheritance, recombination and genetic linkage, gene expression, the central tenet of life, genetic mutations, l evolution, genomics and DNA sequencing. Genetics help to understand the molecular aspects of various diseases and help us formulate specific treatment and management strategies. Scientists are currently engaged in the search for a cure for chronic diseases by modifying the associated genes, a process called gene therapy; and it is speculated as the future of medical treatment practices.
