Gangliosides

ganglioside was first applied by the German researcher Ernst Klenk in 1942 to a blend of complex glycosphingolipids recently secluded from ganglion cells of mind. In this way, he showed that as a feature of an oligosaccharide chain, they contained an acidic sugar segment, which he named "neuraminic corrosive" - later named "sialic corrosive" from the Greek "sialon" for salivation, from which they were first detached. Be that as it may, it was not until 1963 that the first ganglioside species was completely portrayed.
