Environmental Toxicology Impact Factor

Environmental toxicology, also called entox, is a multidisciplinary field of science that deals with the study of the harmful effects of various chemical, biological, and physical agents on living organisms. Ecotoxicology is a sub-discipline of environmental toxicology related to the study of the harmful effects of toxics at the population and ecosystem level. The harmful effects of chemical and biological agents can include toxic substances from pollutants, insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers, all of which can affect an organism and its community through changes in the diversity and abundance of species. The resulting changes in population dynamics impact the ecosystem by altering its productivity and stability. The journal impact factor provides a quantitative evaluation tool to rate, evaluate, classify and compare similar type journals. It reflects the average number of citations to recent articles published in scientific and social science journals in a particular year or period, and is often used as a proxy for the relative importance of a journal within its field. It was first devised by Eugene Garfield, the founder of the Institute for Scientific Information. The impact factor of a journal is evaluated by dividing the number of citations for the current year by the source elements published in that journal during the previous two years.
