Climate change is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution over periods ranging from decades to millions of years of weather patterns. It can be a change in average weather conditions, or weather distribution across average weather conditions (i.e., more or less severe weather events). The climate change is caused by factors such as biotic processes, Earth-received variations in solar radiation, plate tectonics, and volcanic eruptions. Some human activities have also been identified as major causes of recent climate change, often called "global warming.
