Study of creators of eâ€prints showing up in the Chemistry Preprint Server (CPS) at http://preprints.chemweb.com demonstrates utilization of the CPS as a helpful vehicle for dispersal of research discoveries and for receipt of input before submitting to a peerâ€reviewed diary. Gathering of CPS eâ€prints by editors of top science diaries is poor. Just 6% of editors reacting permit distribution of articles that have recently showed up as eâ€prints. Concerns center around the absence of companion survey and the dubious perpetual quality of eâ€print stockpiling. Subsequently, it was to be expected to find that reference investigation yielded no references to CPS eâ€prints in the customary writing of science. However, information gathered and posted by the CPS demonstrates that the eâ€prints are esteemed, perused, and talked about to a striking degree inside the science network.
