Insulin is a hormone made in the pancreas, an organ located fundament the stomach. The pancreas have clusters of cells know as islets. Insulin plays a vital role in metabolism, the approach the body uses digested food for energy. Glucose is a mode of sugar that enters the bloodstream. With the need of insulin, cells throughout the body consume glucose and use it for energy. In insulin resistance, muscle, fat, and liver cells do not respond properly to insulin and thus cannot easily behave glucose from the bloodstream.
