Aquatic organisms generally are of into three broad groups:

Plankton nekton, and Benthos. 

These three groups varies in how they move and where they live. Plankton are tiny and short aquatic organisms which cannot move on their own. They usually live in the photic zone. plankton includes phytoplankton and zooplankton. Phytoplankton are bacteria and algae type that uses sunlight to make their food. Zooplankton are tiny animals that feeds on phytoplankton. Nekton are aquatic organisms that moves by swimming on their own through water. Benthos are aquatic animals that crawl in sediments under the water. These includes sponges, clams, anglerfish and many are decomposers. Aquatic - Organism Scholarly journal is a peer-reviewed journal in which scholarship relating to a particular academic discipline is published.
