Biography

Dr. Sebastian Rodriguez is a NIH Postdoctoral Scientist at the Department of Neurology, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Rodriguez research is focused on generating and evaluating in vivo models of Parkinson’s disease.

Research Interest

Dr. Sebastian Rodriguez is focused ongenerating and evaluating in vivo models of Parkinson’s disease (PD) in order to elucidate the mechanisms by which different substances confer neuroprotection, with the final aim ofdevising therapeutic strategies to hamper the processes that cause neuronal death, the source of many neurodegenerativedisorderssuch as PD.Nowadays, he is part of a recently initiatedproject tend to determine the neuroprotective effectsof coffeecomponents in several in vivo models of PD. Our main aim is to develop a novel dietary-disease modifying-therapy for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders including PD and Alzheimer’sdisease(AD).Moreover, due to  his expertise in biochemistryand pathology, he is also using immunohistological methods in order to investigatethe regenerative phenomena in the Central Nervous System (CNS). The impact of his research would lead to the development of inexpensiveand potent drugsto treat neurodegenerative diseases.
