Nishanth Makthal obtained his master’s degree from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Texas Tech University, USA. He has coauthored over 12 publications in peer-reviewed journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Molecular Microbiology. Nishanth is a research associate in Dr Kumaraswami’s group and currently enrolled in a graduate program pursuing his PhD. His PhD studies are aimed at investigating the interplay between host nutritional defenses and group A streptococcal adaptive responses, and its influence on bacterial pathogenesis.
