Biography

Associate Professor Bronwyn Fox has established carbon fibre composite research at Deakin University and published 46 peer reviewed papers in this field since 2006, 92% of these being in journals ERA ranked as B or above including 14 ranked as A and A*. Fox, currently a mid-career researcher, has made a significant contribution to the understanding of out-of-autoclave processing of composite materials particularly for effects of rapid cure on fibre matrix adhesion, leading to the development and production of low-cost, high-performance composite components. She also has strong partnerships with industry including companies such as Quickstep, Boeing, Eurocopter, Futuris and Furnace Engineering, with whom the collaborative projects have resulted in insights to underpin advances into carbon fibre composite research. She was a key member in the team to successfully bid for the $25M Australian Carbon Fibre Research Facility (ACFRF), which will focus on the production of the next generation of carbon fibres.
