    Factors Influencing Quality of Bowel Preparation for Elective Colonoscopy at a Subsaharan Hospital

    Introduction: The necessity to identify factors impacting the bowel preparation pre-colonoscopy arises from the fact that efficient colonoscopy requires adequate intestinal preparation, which has a significant impact on the diagnostic and therapeutic effectiveness of colonoscopy. We set out to determine the bowel preparation score and the factors associated with poor bowel preparation in our setting. Methods: This was a prospective cross sectional study of 92 colonoscopies performed between November 2022 and February 2023. Data was collected on Patient demographics and indications included gastrointestinal hemorrhage, a change in bowel habits, and screening colonoscopies.
