Integrative Anti-stress and Sleep-promoting Actions of Kombucha and Adaptogenic Herbs

Sleep disturbance and stress are common consequences of modern lifestyles, leading to neuroendocrine imbalance and poor recovery. Natural adaptogenic and fermented ingredients may help restore physiological stability and promote better sleep. This study evaluated the effects of Adaptogen Elixir, a kombucha-based beverage with adaptogenic herbs, on sleep quality, stress and neuroendocrine regulation. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted in 50 adults with poor sleep or anxiety. Subjects consumed 50 mL of Adaptogen Elixir or placebo daily for four weeks. Sleep quality was assessed by PSQI and ISI, autonomic balance by LF/HF ratio and biochemical markers included salivary cortisol and plasma Neuro Peptide Y (NPY).
