Biography

Dr. Wilfreda (Billie) Thurston joined the faculty in the Department of Community Health Sciences, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, in 1991, and became an Emerita professor in 2016 following her retirement. She received a joint appointment in the Department of Ecosystem and Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She served as Director of the Institute for Gender Research at the University of Calgary and Director of the Office of Gender and Equity, Faculty of Medicine, and received the Association of Faculties of Medicine May Cohen Gender Equity Award in 2009.
