He is  Interested in landscape ecology and Climate change impact assessment on vertebrates of the Himalayas. Lalit Kumar Sharma interested in developing a better understanding of animal and landscape ecology to develop effective conservation planning strategies. Over the years,Lalit Kumar Sharma applied various tools and techniques to study large mammals and evaluated landscapes in diverse ecosystems viz., Himalayan mountain, rivers and agro-pastoral ecosystems.
