John H. Makari, M.D., FAAP, FACS, is a consulting pediatric urologist at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Springfield, and is associated with Pediatric Urology Associates, PC of NY, NJ, CT and MA. He attended The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree; Masters of Healthcare Administration from the university’s College of Public Health; and his Masters of Arts in Public Policy and Management from the John Glenn School of Public Affairs. He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Makari completed his residency training in general surgery and urology at George Washington University, Washington, DC and completed his fellowship training in pediatric urology at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. Dr. Makari provides comprehensive pediatric urology care and has particular interest in lower urinary tract reconstruction, disorders of sex development, and hypospadias. He is actively involved in clinical care, research and education. Dr. Makari is a Diplomate of and holds Subspecialty Certification in Pediatric Urology from the American Board of Urology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society for Pediatric Urology, the American Association of Clinical Urologists and the American Medical Association.
