Islamic Calendar Effect on Market Risk and Return Evidence from Islamic Countries

Anomalies remain part of the market no matter it is developed or emerging one. Studies revealed that arbitragers materialize these situations and bring the markets back to efficiency. This study probed the presence of calendar anomalies in stock markets of six Islamic countries. It is empirically concluded that negative Zul-Hijjah effect presents in Malaysian stock market return and has no effect for other sample countries’ stock markets. Zul-Hijjah has negative effect on the volatility of Turkish, Morocco and Egyptian stock markets and has no effect on the volatility of other sample countries’ stock markets. Investors must consider this phenomenon while making decisions regarding investment and forming a diversified global portfolio. This field will help the investors in taking effective investment decision and for efficient resource allocation because knowledge of calendar anomalies plays a critical role to structure the optimal portfolio.

Measuring the Job Satisfaction Level of the Academic Staff

This study was conducted for the aim to find the job satisfaction of academic staff in Abbottabad. Important factors that have an impact on job satisfaction level are pay, job security, relationship with coworkers and relationship with supervisor. A sample of 84 teachers is selected by simple random sampling technique. Data is collected from four colleges both public and private in Abbottabad region. Simple percentages indicated that academic staff of these four colleges is more satisfied with relationship with coworkers and supervisor than pay and job security.

Factors Influencing General Problems Encountered by the First Generation Entrepreneurs in Madurai, Tamilnadu

Entrepreneur is one of the important inputs in the economic development of a country or of regions within the country. Entrepreneurial competence makes all the difference in the rates of economic growth. As the only source to unemployment, they definitely opt for a career in entrepreneurship. There is no need to possess previous experiences in business or no need to run the family business. A study on the first generation entrepreneurs in the small scale industry in Madurai city is a maiden attempt made by the research. The main objectives of the present study are the problems encountered by the first generation entrepreneurs in small scale industry. Factor analysis was done with 12 variables (OPINION) Orthogonal Varimax Rotation for the opinion of the respondents towards the much influencing factors to start enterprises by the first generation entrepreneurs, have an impact on their behavioral attitudes in the study area. In the glow of the research conducted, to enhance the entrepreneurship culture in the minds of the youngsters as well as in the interest of the nation. Proper entrepreneurship education should be given at school. Best young entrepreneurship idea oriented students are to be identified at high school/higher secondary school level and they should be under keen observation by the entrepreneurship incubators.

Role of Assets Holding of the Availing Micro Credit of Women: A Study With Reference to Madurai District of Tamil Nadu

Micro-credit is a critical antipoverty tool, a wise investment in human capital. When the poorest especially women receive credit, they become economic actors with power to improve not only their own lives, but in a widening circle of impact, the lives of their families, their communities and their relations. Microfinance helps the NGOs all over the world in alleviation of urban and rural poverty through promoting micro enterprises as a solution to the problem of unemployment and underemployment among the poor. In India also NGOs use this methodology for financing the poor. MYRADA in Karnataka and SEWA in Gujarat are the forerunners in the field in India. SEWA has promoted a cooperative bank exclusively for women and is engaged in financing income generating activities of women. Friends of WWB (FWWB) Ahmedabad, an affiliate of Women’s World Banking, New York, networks with NGOs giving financial assistance to women groups. The total value of assets includes movable and immovable assets owned by the respondents and their family members. The assets indicate the financial background of the respondents before availing credit. Assets of the respondents increased due to the additional income earned through new activities and savings.

We are still in ahead of schedule phases of the change online networking and long range interpersonal communication is having on advertising. Customary advertising is experiencing a change due, in substantial part, to the Internet and informal organizations and online networking. While interpersonal interaction has gone on the length of social orders themselves have existed, the unparalleled capability of the Internet to advance such associations is just now being completely perceived and abused, through Web-based gatherings built up for that reason. With two thirds of the world’s internet population visiting a social network or blogging website, and the sector now accounting for over 10% of all internet time, websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are channels that marketers can really tap into. Social networking can be an excellent way to acquire new customers and retain existing ones. The real value is the way marketers can engage with their audience on a personal level. Instead of simply ‘sell sell sell’, social networking is about the kind of two-way communication which helps to build a long term relationship. Of course, this form of interaction may not be suitable for all brands, but many organizations are benefiting from making their brand more personable. This Paper analyses the opinion of potential consumer that is the internet users, on their attitude towards Social Networking Websites (SNWs) to be used as a Marcom tool (Marketing Communication tool). As the SNWs are the upcoming platforms that people have started using, to build networks. How can the marketers take the use of these Internet based platforms, as the tool for ‘Customer engagement, viral marketing, Word of the mouth promotion, etc’. The study is based on survey conducted where the opinions of the “Internet users” have been collected, with a sample size of approx 300, using ‘Questionnaire’ as a research tool. The findings are expected to give the conclusion for the marketers, to look the SNWs as an emerging marcom platform. The recommendations have been given on the basis of Findings.

Evolution of Corporate Governance Practices and Conventional Banks Profitability

This study has been conducted to discover the good governance practices influence on profit of conventional banking system. Prime aim is to discover the application of these practices in the corporation for betterment. This research based on mixture of primary and secondary data. Sample for primary data collection for study is different conventional banks of Pakistan. Observation method and structured questionnaires is used to obtain the data from respondents (banks employees). Obtained data is analyzed through statistical software SPSS. Regression analysis is done to check out the effects of corporate governance and its determinants on profitability of conventional financial institution. So findings possess that banks profit tend to be enhance with the espousal of ethical practices in corporate culture. Study concluded that if financial institution behave ethical manner, socially obliged and invest for well being of society after that they will get and enhance profit from social capital in addition to be considered as socially responsible corporations by adopting regulatory system aptly.
