He born in 1966 in Leon, Guanajuato. He received professional degrees in Marine Biology at UABCS , master at San Jose State University , USA and a doctorate in Botanica La Trobe University, Australia . At present he is professor and researcher in the Department of Marine Biology UABCS . It is National Researcher Level III of the National System of Researchers and has published more than 100 scientific articles in peer and 60 books and book chapters magazines. He has directed more than 70 theses of bachelor, master and doctoral students and abroad . His career includes research biology and ecology of macroalgae , particularly rhodolith ( Rhodophyta ) .
