Abstract :

Statement of the Problem: New cases of polio, Measles and rubella. Began to appear in the Mediterranean region, including Jordan due to the breakdown of the primary health care system and a lot of children in Syria is definitely infected with these major diseases caused by the civil war. World Health Organization (WHO) adopted a vaccination campaign in neighboring countries closed to Syria since 2nd November, 2015 to 21st November, 2015 in order to control the spread of the disease through the reservoir (refugees) get away from Syria to neighboring countries such as Jordan. Objective: Control, prevention and eradication of polio, measles and rubella. Method: A vaccination campaign for these major diseases (polio, measles and rubella) in the period between 2nd November to 21st November 2015 carried out this campaign through the Ministry of Health Jordan (MOH), Royal Medical Services (RMS), United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) health centers across the Jordan. Target population: The campaign targets the vaccination children against polio for the age group of one day to five years, while the targeted immunization with vaccine of measles and rubella for the age group of 6 months to 20 years for all Jordanians and non- Jordanians residing on the land of the Kingdom regardless of taking them to these vaccines earlier in the campaign. Result: The total number of children and young people within the age group of the day and until the age of 20 years had a vaccination (2,500000), among of those (56500) vaccinate by RMS as well as about (46000) measles and rubella, (10500) polio vaccine. Conclusion: High vaccination coverage as well as a huge number of people from under the age 20 years they attended Ministry of Health, Royal Medical Services, UNRWA and Non-governmental Organizations health care center in Jordan to get the vaccination.

Biography :

Zeyad Bataineh is Medical Director of Public Health and Refugee Health. He was a Senior research fellow in infectious diseases & infection control at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, USA. He completed a one-year fellowship in disaster preparedness training and exercises at the Jefferson Bioterrorism and Disaster Preparedness Center at Jefferson University Hospital. He was Head of Division/Major Doctor of Department of Preventive Medicine, Royal Medical Services, Amman Jordan (2002- present September 2010-Present). He was Deputy Medical Chief at United Nation Headquarter, force medical office, Port Au Prince a Haiti (December 2012-January 2014 Public health physician).
