Abstract :

A total of 1856 bovine sera samples were screened with AB-ELISA of which 248 were found to be positive with an overall prevalence of 13.36 percent. The species wise prevalence indicated that 14.69% cattle and 11.29% buffaloes had Brucella antibodies in the sera. The gender wise prevalence showed that 13.92% and 7.14% females and males were positive for Brucella antibodies respectively, whereas 16.79% cross breeds and 11.91% indigenous cattle had Brucella antibodies in sera. The prevalence in organized cattle farms was 11.44% and in rural sector was 14.83%, the prevalence in artificially inseminated animals was 14.11%, in naturally serviced animals was 9.82% and in animals with reproductive disorders was 20.26%. Out of the 1856 sera samples screened by AB-ELISA, 13.36%, detected as positive.
