Abstract :

This study was carried out to assess the activity of total antioxidant (TAOC) and total calcium (Ca), selenium (Se), insulin, free triiodothyronine (fT3) and free thyroxine (fT4) levels in cows with subclinical and clinical ketosis. Signifi cant changes were noted in the serum levels of TAOC, Ca, Se, fT3, fT4 and insulin hormone in cows with subclinical and clinical ketosis. Th e study identifi ed important parameters, which can be used for the prognosis and treatment management of cows with ketosis. Th eir use will also help reduce the economic losses suff ered by dairy farmers as a result of the disease.
