Abstract :

Pulmonology and respiratory medicine research helps us understand how asthma, bronchiectasis, bronchitis, COPD,pulmonary fibrosis, and rheumatoid lung disease is caused, how it develops and how it is best treated. Research can improve the quality of everyday life for those diagnosed with such ailments. Tobacco usage, family history, obesity, HIV/ AIDS, diet and chemical exposures are major risk factors for respiratory diseases. Pulmonology and respiratory medicine research aids in the concern for the need to cure and maintain these diseases. However, climate change threatens this progress. Reports find that over the past 10 years, the five-year cancer survival rate increased 26%. Closely examining lung cancer incidence, survival, stage at diagnosis, surgical treatment, lack of treatment and screening, defies the improvement in states. We must do more to protect residents from diseases as it relates to pulmonology and respiratory medicinal research.
