Abstract :

Overview: Hypertension is one of the most common medical problem encountered in pregnancy and is a major cause of maternal, fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in both developing and developed countries. Aim: To evaluate the association between blood group and hypertension among Women in Beni- suef City among pregnant Women in Beni- suef City. Subject and Methods: A descriptive study, 380 pregnant women diagnosed with hypertensive disorders (Gestetional or pre eclampsia) attended at antenatal clinic of Beni�Suef General Hospital through six months. The sample was collected 2days a week. Tools: A questionnaire sheet, Socio-demographic tool. Results: Hypertension of ABO blood group was B (51.3%) followed by group O (25.5%)group A (3.7%) and group AB (1.9%). In obesity of ABO blood group was B (7.9%) followed by group O (6.2%) group AB (20.3%) and group A (2.9%). Statistically significant difference was found in both groups (p < 0.005). Conclusion: The B blood group in pregnant women was more susceptible to hypertension. Recommendations: Postnatal education guidelines should be included.
