Hypertension is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular ailments, and atherosclerosis. Hypertension is also regarded as one of the major public health challenges in both developing and developed nations. A great deal of research and development activities were taken up over the recent years that has resulted in increased knowledgebase and scientific information on at both diagnostic and therapeutic frontiers and consequently the quantum of research communications is also increasing at rapid pace. Journal of Hypertension: Open access publishes peer-reviewed articles on experimental, clinical and application oriented aspects of hypertension including prevention, treatment and management of hypertension. The journal particularly focuses on novel therapeutic strategies of blood pressure control while aiming to disseminate latest scholarly knowledge for development of effective treatment strategies, optimize health care delivery thus aiding in reduced disease burden on the community.

Journal of Hypertension covers a wide range of relevant topics including portal hypertension, blood pressure, treatment for hypertension, angiotensin, hypertension management, hypertensive emergency, hypertension retinopathy, and hypertension therapies, epidemiology, pathophysiology, renovascular hypertension, primary hyperaldosteronism, lifestyle influence on blood pressure, diagnosis of hypertension, organ damage, left ventricular hypertrophy, hypertension management, role of diuretics in hypertension, beta-blockers in hypertension, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, anti-hypertensives, renal denervations, antithrombic therapy, pharamacological management and hypertension under diabetic condition.

The editorial panel of the Journal is headed by Joseph I Shapiro, Dean, Joan C Edwards School of Medicine, Professor of Medicine, Marshall University, USA. The editorial board is constituted by twenty six eminent scientists from eleven countries. The Journal was established in the year 2012 and publishes peer-reviewed articles at quarterly pace. In the current volume, the Journal has produced two issues comprising of a total of ten articles contributed by ten authors on various topics including arrhythmic ventricular cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular physiology, cardiomyocytes, cardiopulmonary bypass treatment, gestational hypertension, aspiratory hypertension, diabetic cardiomyopathy and renovascular hypertension. Additionally the Journal has scheduled special issues entitled “Cardiovascular Markers in Hypertension” edited by Maja Skov Paulsen, University of Southern Denmark, Research Unit of General Practice, Denmark; “Dietary Approaches to Prevent and Treat Hypertension” edited by Norman M Kaplan, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre, USA; “Advances in the Management of Hypertension” edited by Maja Skov Paulsen University of Southern Denmark, Research Unit of General Practice, Denmark among others.
