Introduction

While more attention has been paid to the analysis of the paths taken by previous research to guide its future development, recent reviews demonstrate that the business model concept is useful as a level of analysis in management. We followed the development of the business model literature from its beginnings in e-business to its current state using bibliometric techniques, specifically bibliographic coupling and algorithmic historiography. Our study looked at the time-dependent co-evolution of research sub-streams as well as the entire body of literature. Within and between three distinct time periods, we investigated algorithmic historiography, or the relative influence of publications and canonical papers (bibliographic coupling). We discovered that new frontiers present an opportunity to increase the interconnectedness of business model research, while business model foundations draw from three major business sub-disciplines—innovation, strategy, and entrepreneurship. Last but not least, we talk about current issues and possible future directions for business model research [1].

Description

To reveal conceptualizations and the development of theories, it is necessary to draw a coherent map of contemporary research in any field based solely on subjective literature reviews. Such a writing survey can't envelop the elements of examination in a given field or enough uncover distributions that have impacted central areas of interest inside unambiguous time spans. Quantitative methods, on the other hand, provide numerous opportunities for BM research. In particular, a bibliometric study can break down reference designs exhaustively and give the premise to distinguishing research sub-streams and future exploration headings a bibliometric study is particularly useful for organizing the development traces of fragmented fields like BM research. By structuring and clustering BM research into three distinct periods of time, as well as identifying contemporary clusters and future research avenues, our study aims to provide a coherent map of the historical development of BM research.

We also used algorithmic historiography to follow the growth of BM literature throughout the entire time period. Previous assertions that the BM research initially focused on e-business are supported by our data. We show that BM research has been developing as a self-sustaining field. From within the field, the most frequently cited influences on recent BM literature are In the latest period, BM research has rotated around contemporary points like manageability and has encountered co-advancement with network-based and client focused wildernesses [2-4].The study identified key research themes, including trust, collaborative consumption, motivations, and economic impacts. It highlighted the multidisciplinary nature of sharing economy research and emphasized the need for further exploration of theoretical frameworks and methodologies. A comprehensive review of peer-to-peer accommodation platforms, focusing on Airbnb. The study analysed the business model, user experiences, economic impacts, and regulatory challenges. It highlighted the opportunities and challenges associated with peer-to-peer accommodation and provided insights into the implications for sustainable tourism development [5,6].

Conclusion

Our review adds to a more clear comprehension of how the headway of BM examination ought to be sought after by offering hypothetical and systemic commitments. The most important papers for a wide-ranging type of research can be found by combining methods like coding and historiography with the standard approach—structured literature reviews and bibliometric analyses— in a methodological contribution.
