West Nile District was first known for the West Nile Virus isolated from a febrile adult woman. The virus responsible for the disease Flaviviridae which is a single stranded RNA virus. It is in resident birds. Hundreds of wild and domestic avian species including Passerines mainly the Corvidae family, Gulls, Flamingos, Owls, and companion Birds have been effected by WNV infection. West Nile Virus is causing severe human diseases during 1999 in the Western Hemisphere. This article briefly tells the biology of virus and also provides a review regarding recent discoveries about virus transmission, virus acquisition, and human infection and disease.
