Streptococcus Suis

Streptococcus suis is an important pathogen in the pork industry that causes economic problems. In addition, it is a zoonotic agent that causes serious infections in individuals with infected pigs or pork products. Although in the past, human S was sporadic. Infections with two major outbreaks have been reported in China over the last 45 years. In fact , the number of human cases reported in recent years has substantially increased. The methods used in S. SO ID and typing, current epidemiological knowledge on STs and serotypes and zoonotic potential S. Am are being talked about. Enhanced sensitivity to S. I am in diagnostic laboratories both human and veterinary and the further development of typing methods will contribute towards knowledge about this pathogen, particularly in areas where there is a lack of complete and/or current data. Additional investigation is needed to understand the virulence differences between S. Soy strains and when these variations can be associated with particular serotypes or STs.
