Rickettsioses

A rickettsiosis is a disease that is caused by intracellular bacteria. It can be divided into a spotted fever group and typhus group. Examples of rickettsioses include typhus, both endemic and epidemic, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Rickettsialpox.Tick-borne rickettsioses are caused by obligate intracellular bacteria belonging to the spotted fever group of the genus Rickettsia. This disease is infections that you can get from some tick bites.Of the 800 species of ticks in the world, less than 60 species transmit bacteria when they bite. This disease is transmitted to humans by the bite of infected ticks and mites and by the feces of infected lice and fleas. They enter from the skin and spread through the bloodstream to infect vascular endothelium in the skin, brain, lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, gastrointestinal tract, and other organs
