Not much is known about psychopathology in pre-schoolers. There are few studies which examine the continuity of early childhood disorders and symptoms. Longitudinal studies are required to explain the clinical importance and future implications of psychopathology in young children. Existing studies mainly focus on externalizing problems and include symptom checklist measures providing very few details about the nature and clinical significance of symptoms. The stability of symptoms and diagnoses from ages 3 to 6 are said to support the validity of psychopathology in pre-schoolers. The development of prevention and early intervention effort targeting are encouraged. It is the study which has the potential to improve our understanding of the course and significance of psychopathology in preschool. It is studied to identify the factors of change in psychiatric symptoms which are used to guide early intervention and need for services. This study may help to refine the evaluation of psychopathology in young children.
