Positive psychology is a field of psychology based on the qualities and behaviors of character that allow individuals to create a life of intent and meaning to move beyond survival to thrive. Theoreticians and field researchers have sought to define the components of a healthy existence. They have introduced and tested strategies intended to enhance life satisfaction and well-being. Positive psychology emphasizes meaning and deep fulfillment, not just transient pleasure. Martin Seligman, also called the father of positive psychology, has identified many visions of what happy living entails, including the Good Life. Positive psychologists have investigated a variety of interactions and behaviors involved in different forms of healthy living, including common positive feelings, "flow" states and sense of meaning or intent. Positive psychologists have proposed a variety of approaches that can promote individual satisfaction. It is of particular importance to have social relations with a partner, family, friends and wider networks through work, clubs or social organizations, whereas physical activity and meditation practice can also lead to happiness.
