Pharmacodynamics (PD) is the quantitative study of the relationship between drug exposure and pharmacologic or toxicologic responses, the biochemical, physiologic, and molecular effects of drugs on the body and involves receptor binding , postreceptor effects, and chemical interactions. Pharmacodynamics, with pharmacokinetics , helps explain the relationship between the dose and response, ie, the drug's effects. The concentration of the drug at the receptor site influences the drug’s effect. All drugs produce their effects by interacting with biological structures or targets at the molecular level to induce a change in how the target molecule functions in regards to subsequent intermolecular interactions.
