Perinatal medicine deals with the specialists or physicians who subspecialize within the field of obstetrics who takes care of mother and fetus during pregnancy. They may perform prenatal tests, provide treatments, and perform surgeries .Perinatal mental health refers to a woman's mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period. It helps to prevent complications and inform women about important steps they should take to protect their infant and ensure a healthy pregnancy. With these steps women can reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. The Journal of Perinatal Medicine is an international forum covering the entire field of perinatal medicine. It strengthens research and education of the neonatal community on the optimal physical, mental and social health and well-being of infants.
