Osteochondroma is a type of non-cancerous tumor that forms near the growth plate on the bone surface. It begins to develop during childhood or adolescence. In this condition, bone growth occurs around the growth plate and, as the child's body develops, with the growth of the child, the osteochondroma also grows and the growth plates harden and form also solid bone. An osteochondroma is made up of both bone and cartilage and is the growth of the growth plate. Thus, in most cases, no treatment is required, except for regular monitoring to identify any changes or complications. The osteochondroma can develop in a single tumor or in several tumors. It can be congenital or occur due to trauma to the growth plate that may have occurred previously. A journal is a periodic publication intended to advance science, usually by reporting new research.
