Occurence Of HIV/AIDS In Slum Workers

HIV / AIDS became one of the most important public health problems of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries and is today one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The HIV / AIDS epidemic has brought about far-reaching changes in public health, clinical practice and scientific research, and has had a huge impact on societies around the world. The global prevalence of HIV infection (percentage of people infected with HIV) remains at the same level, although the global number of people living with HIV is increasing due to the continuous accumulation of new infections with survival times longer. The present study indicates that even after the introduction of large-scale IEC activities, at national and state levels, knowledge of various aspects of HIV / AIDS is lacking and myths about modes of transmission are widespread among the population studied shantytowns. It is imperative that IEC activities are carried out regularly in the slums, which could raise awareness of HIV / AIDS and related health resources.
