Mycobacterium Smegmatis Review

Mycobacterium smegmatis is an acid-fast bacterial species within the phylum Actinobacteria and the class Mycobacterium.  It is 3.0 to 5.0 µm long with a bacillus shape and can be recolored by Ziehl-Neelsen strategy and the auramine-rhodamine fluorescent strategy. It was to begin with detailed in November 1884 by Lustgarten, who found a bacillus with the recoloring appearance of tubercle bacilli in syphilitic chancres. Ensuing to this, Alvarez and Tavel found living beings comparative to that depicted by Lustgarten too in ordinary genital emissions (smegma). This life form was afterward named M. smegmatis. M. smegmatis is by and large considered a non-pathogenic microorganism; in any case, in a few exceptionally uncommon cases, it may cause disease.
