Iron Therapy is defined as an Iron infusion which is usually prescribed by doctors to treat iron deficiency-anaemia. This therapy is a procedure in which iron is delivered to body intravenously, meaning into a vein through a needle. This method is called as an intravenous (IV) infusion, which is delivering medication or supplementation method. Anaemia is common in pregnancy and iron deficiency is the most common cause. Oral iron is the standard therapy, but there is a problem of adherence due the gastrointestinal side effects. Intravenous iron therapy has more advantages; therefore, intravenous iron therapy is the best treatment for pregnant women during the pregnancy. This Therapy usually takes place at a hospital or haemodialysis centre. where a doctor or other healthcare provider, such as a nurse, will use a needle to insert a small tube into a vein. This small tube is known as a catheter. It’s usually put into a vein in your arm or hand. Then, the healthcare provider will remove the needle, leaving the catheter in your vein.
