Gasoline Phytotoxicity

Gas or petrol is called as gasoline and is used as fuel for engines. It can also be used as a solvent for oils. Early growth of plants is done by contaminating the soil. Brassica oleracea are contaminated with gasoline and diesel . If low residence time of gasoline components in soil, resulted in an unsuitable bioassay to assess gasoline toxicity by this phytotoxicity test. From an abandoned filling station soils are taken. The phytotoxicity and phytoavailability of hydrocarbons were studied in soils which contain fuel oil. The germination and development of cultivated plants varied with the HC concentration in soil
