The most recent 2014 report from Journal Citation Reports gives its positioning of diaries by its "sway factor" metric and it positions the International Journal of Epidemiology as having the most noteworthy effect factor in this classification of 160 diaries (see table beneath). The effect factor mirrors the quantity of references which a "normal article" in the diary gets as a proportion of the impact of the diary content. The just exemption we could discover among the main diaries is Epidemiology where a few scrutinizes of the effect factor have been distributed in the past. Critics we addressed said the effect factor is a poor marker of value, one explanation being that diaries can distribute publications with self-references which will in general increment the effect factor, and another being that great papers may engage just a little readership and in this manner impact contrarily the effect factor metric.
