Puccinia coronata is a fungi, often considered as plant pathogen and is responsible for causing a disease in plants, called as Crown rust. This pathogen mainly causes damage to plants of oats and barley. They mostly occur on leaf blades and rarely on leaf sheaths, awns and peduncles. They do not kill the entire plant but damages the plane leaves individually. It reduces the process of photosynthesis in plants thus reducing the crop yield and plant growth. When these plants are highly effected, they are much sensitive to drought conditions further leading the plant to death. They belong to kingdom Fungi and genus Puccinia.
