According to available reports, approximately 65 journals, 1,200 conferences, 53 workshops are currently devoted exclusively to complementary and alternative medicine and approximately 1,780,000 articles are published on current trends in complementary and alternative medicine. In terms of annual research, the United States, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the main countries where the maximum of studies related to complementary and alternative medicine are underway. As noted in Wikipedia, alternative medicine is any practice which is presented as having the curative effects of medicine but which is not based on evidence gathered using the scientific method. It consists of a wide range of health care practices, products and therapies, using alternative medical diagnostics and treatments that are generally not included in medical school curricula or used in conventional medicine. Examples include homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic, energy medicine and acupuncture.
