Biophysics Top Journals

Biophysics is an interdisciplinary science that applies techniques and methods to the study of biological phenomena commonly used in physics. Biophysics encompasses all biological organizational scales, from molecular to organismic and populations. Biophysical research shares important overlap with biochemistry, molecular biology, physical chemistry, physiology, nanotechnology, and bioengineering. Typically, molecular biophysics addresses biological issues similar to those in biochemistry and molecular biology, seeking to find the physical foundations of biomolecular phenomena. Scholars in this area perform work on understanding the interactions between a cell's different systems including the interactions between DNA, RNA , and protein biosynthesis. In addition to conventional (i.e. molecular and cellular) biophysical topics such as structural biology or enzyme kinetics, modern biophysics covers an extraordinarily wide variety of work involving both experimental and theoretical methods, from bioelectronics to quantum biology.
