Systemic inflammation is a conventional pathological process, advancing from specific damage and obtained by the total inflammatory reactivity of plasma and blood cell factors, endotheliocytes, connective tissue and, at the final stage, by microcirculatory disorders in vital organs and tissues. Inflammation is part of the body's defense mechanism. It is the process by which the immune system recognizes and removes harmful and foreign stimuli and begins the healing process. Inflammation can be either acute or chronic. When the body finds an intruder, it releses a biological response to try to rectify it. The attacker could be a foreign body, such as an irritant,a thorn, or a pathogen. Pathogens include bacteria, viruses, and other micro organisms, which cause diseases.
