Biography

Dr Raouf holds B.S.“ Dairying “ from Cairo University ,1973 ,M.S. " dairy microbiology "from  Al Azhar Univ. , 1980 and Ph.D. degree "Microbiology " from Ain Shams Univ. ,1987 . Worked as a food and medical microbiologist at Central Public Health laboratories , Ministry of Health , 1977 to 1987 .Then moved , worked and promoted as a researcher , associate professor, and ,since January 2000, till now as full professor (Prof. emeritus,2011" at National Research Center (NRC) .Attended postdoctoral mission at Massachusetts University ,USA ,about monoclonal antibody (1989/1990) . worked as a consultant for microbiological quality control in Golden Farm dairy plant and in the Baby Food Arab Co. licensed " Garber ,USA",1980-1992.The main interest is in the field of food borne bacteria and their toxins , and probiotic- prebiotic with some plant extracts applications in food and dairy products where published more than 46 specific research papers in national and international peer refereed journals and conferences. Patents register at the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (no.54|89,1989) entitled “protein A latex agglutination for diagnosis of staphylococcal enterotoxins" and (no.61/2019) entitled fermented bio-dairy products riches with fibers and supported with coconut flour using nanotechnology . Principal investigator and co-principal of more than accomplished and working 6 national and international projects acting on the area of food borne bacteria and their toxins, new borne bacteria, rapid methods for bacterial diagnosis, and the microbiological status of Egyptian ready to eat foods .Joined and key speaker of the NATO Science for peace and Security Program " Advances in Food Security and Safety against Terrorist and Natural Disasters " workshop ,2010. Leading a group of research staff in the microbiology laboratory, NRC, through the current projects, supervises M.S. and Ph.D. theses. Organizing and teaching specific concerned training in and out doors NRC courses. Published more than 49 research paper in peer reviewed national and international journals.
